Just last week, one of my long-time newsletter clients sent me an email with a marketing program he started a couple of months ago. It’s proven very successful in bringing in lots of new clients, and he offered me the opportunity to share his bright idea with you!

I am doing an Economic Rewards and Stimulus Program for my clients. As long as this economic recession continues, I am offering 50% off a one-hour massage for all new clients. Then for all my current clients I am giving the below coupons to them. They put their name or initials on the back of the coupon, something I can recognize. Then as a new client gets a massage with one of the coupons I give credit to my current client ... for two coupons, a current client gets 50% off; for three coupons, a current client can convert the 50% off massage to a FREE massage.
As easy as one, two, three, my current clients can receive a FREE massage even during a recession, and I receive three new clients. The idea is to build up my new client base; I set my goal of 10 new clients a week, eventually building to 15 new clients a week. This will keep me busy, bring in some money even though it’s less than before (it’s like having a second job), build a new client base—it’s a numbers game—and hope that some will become regular clients. I’m doing advertising mostly via word-of-mouth, emails, and this Economic Rewards and Stimulus Program.
Results so far: 56 new clients since March 5th, almost all of them took coupons to give to their friends, relatives, hair salons, nail salons, anywhere and everywhere to earn massages. Friends tell friends, who will tell more friends. This client base becomes more and more an interactive family network of people interested in massage and a good deal. I used to pay $350 for a Yellow Pages ad that generated about 8-9 people a month, most of them were transient people staying in hotels, who I would never see again. My other advertising—small papers around town—were less productive, my cost for postage, printing, labor and time were too expensive. So I’m cutting expenses and building a new client base with sort of a “pyr
amid” approach, which directly benefits all the clients, both new and current—a Triple Win, Win situation.
I am finding out that the more attention I give this program, the more success is being generated. The master key for success is to maximize the distribution of the coupons through your clients, let them be your promotion army.
Eventually, when the economy gets better and the recession is over, I will have created a BIG new client base, plus my older client base will start to return to get massages. Essentially, you are investing in a much brighter, prosperous future while in the midst of a heavy, dark recession.
